LRT Phase I Construction Complete Before Asian Games

Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama ensured Light Rail Transit (LRT) operational could be started before Asian Games 2018. LRT will also passing venues in the capital.

“Phase I could be completed before Asian Games,” he said, Thursday (3/24).

LRT will pass venues such as Equestrian, Velodrome, and basket ball. It is hoped LRT would ease athletes accessing their hotel.

Rp 4 Trillion Prepared for Initial Investment of LRT

Later on, LRT depot would has apartment. Phase I investment needed is Rp 5 trillion. Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared Rp 4 trillion, then the rest is funded by PT Wijaya Karya (Wika) who will join with PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro).

First phase, or known as Asian Games corridor has route as long as 20 km. LRT lane (elevated track) is built mostly above Transjakarta lane. The route is started from Rawamangun to Kelapa Gading and ends in Stasiun Kota.

For the other nine corridors, Basuki assured could be completed in 2020.
